On Wednesday, JAMB clarified that the female candidate in Lagos who was requested to remove her hijab before her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination did not lose any time from her designated schedule.
At the Bafuto Institute in Ejigbo, Lagos, the candidate underwent accreditation and was reportedly asked to remove her headcover by JAMB officials before entering the examination hall.
Despite claims that she was delayed for 30 minutes, JAMB debunked this by stating that it was a misconstrued narrative meant to incite emotions and prolong an already resolved issue.
In a statement by Fabian Benjamin, JAMB's spokesperson, it was emphasized that the incident was thoroughly investigated and found that the candidate was not disadvantaged in any way time-wise.
