Students in Bauchi at risk of losing scholarship due to lack of commitment
In Bauchi State, the government is considering withdrawing financial support for external exam fees for Senior Secondary Three (SS3) students who are frequently absent from classes. This warning was conveyed by the Commissioner for Education, Jamila Dahiru, during her recent inspections and monitoring visits to schools in Bauchi.
Governor Bala Mohammed has allocated N396.9 million for the 2023/2024 external exams of 14,170 public school students, which include exams like WAEC, NECO, NBAIS, and JAMB.
Dahiru expressed dismay at the low attendance rates among SS3 students in some schools, emphasizing the importance of regular attendance and serious preparation. She threatened to revoke scholarships for students who are not committed to their studies.
