The Akwa Ibom Assembly faces criticism from rights group over LG transition committees
A resolution passed by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, granting State Governor Pastor Umo Eno the authority to establish Transition Committees for the State's 31 Local Government Areas, has been challenged by the Center for Human Rights and Accountability Network (CHRAN).
In a statement released in Uyo, the group, led by Director Otuekong Franklyn Isong and Secretary Barrister Christopher Ekpo, labeled the Local Government Transition Committees as illegal, unlawful, and unconstitutional.
